Although still enjoying the process of painting, much of my time has recently been taken up with print having joined Birmingham Printmakers in September 2009. Since then I've been producing work in both paint and print (sometimes mixed media) and exhibiting in the Midlands, London, Wales and Welsh borders.
My work does vary, depending on the medium used, tending towards the abstract in paint and figurative in print.
Ideas can and do spring from anywhere; usually just looking and seeing....buildings, various creatures (my old cat has been a muse) or the landscape around me. A large backlog of sketchbooks continue to be a great source for ideas
A large proportion of my silk screen prints are in response to an exploration of the architectural language of the urban environment: city, town & rural wanderings usually being accompanied by a camera or sketch book.
Painting is a freer process but the unexpected in print is one of its attractions as, however carefully planned a print might be, there is always an element of surprise as the screen is lifted or the print emerges from the press.
I'm a fine art graduate living in South Shropshire, working in print and paint.
